In memory of Nursia Haque
Nursia Haque is the most dear and beloved name of everyone associated with Riyadul Muslimat. However, she is very well known as Baby Apa. As a result of her tireless work, sincere efforts and talent, the current “Riyadul Muslimat” is present. She herself used to educate poor children. She was more interested in the education of poor children by providing educational materials and tiffin. Besides, thinking about the bright future of these poor children, she used to provide money for technical education by herself and some like-minded women like her. She became known as “Boro Nanu” to all the students of Riyadul Muslimat who grew up with her love, good governance, tolerance and prudence.
She was born on March 15, 1946. Nursia Haque was the only daughter of businessman Kazi Abdul Hamid and housewife Zohra Khatun. She was the apple of the eyes of her parents and two brothers. Even though she lost her father after 2 years of her birth, her elder brother has always kept her like her father with utmost compassion. That’s why she used to call her elder brother by the name Miyabhai. In her educational career, she passed Higher Secondary from Badrunnessa College and Degree from Eden College. In married life, her husband Sheikh Mominul Haque was the then Deputy Managing Director of Green Delta Life Insurance Company. In her family life, she is the mother of one son and one daughter. Eldest daughter Mahbuba Lisa Mesbahuddin is currently living in America and is a teacher. Her younger son SK Tawfique M Haque is currently teaching at North-South University. She breathed her last on August 27, 2018 at Dhaka Popular Hospital. She was buried forever in Dhaka Azimpur Cemetery.
